NEPTUNE - The township architect is continuing to work on a redevelopment plan for West Lake Avenue following input from the community.

The Township Committee voted 5 to 0 Monday to allow Mark Pavliv to continue work on architectural and design services for the plan.

Several years ago, the township came up with a conceptual plan for the West Lake Avenue redevelopment, and last year, the nonprofit redeveloper, CityWorks, unveiled its conceptual plan, said Michael Bascom, the township's chief financial officer.

The township also held community meetings about the redevelopment, and now officials are trying to put together a design for the streets and buildings that includes input from the town, the community and the developer.

"We're trying to revise it, so the redeveloper gets what he needs and the community gets what (it) needs," Bascom said. "We're just talking about what the streetscape is going to look like - what the actual buildings are going to look like."

Monday's vote authorized work not to exceed $6,000. The township plans to recoup the money from the redevelopers once the project is complete.
